• Blank or flickering display. The backlight works intermittently, or the screen goes dark entirely while the system still runs. Usually the internal power supply or capacitor is failing, common after seven to ten years in Houston’s heat and humidity cycling.
• Temperature reading drifts from actual room feel. The stat reads 72 but you’re sweating, or it overshoots and chills the house. The internal thermistor loses calibration, especially in older Legacy units exposed to attic heat during past summers.
